St Croix Hair Sheep

About the Breed
St Croix hair sheep are renowned for their parasite resistance. In the sheep world, that's a big deal. Where some breeds of sheep would get sick and die from intestinal parasites, the St Croix hair sheep thrives. That means less treating with deworming medication for us, and a more sustainable farming practice in the long term.

Life on the Farm
Our sheep are born and raised on our farm in Darlington, Harford County, Maryland. The ewes usually have twins, but sometimes have singles or triplets. They live on pasture and eat grass in the summer and hay in the winter, along with an occasional supplementation of grain. Ram lambs are usually ready for processing at about 8-10 months old. Please reach out if you are interested in registered St Croix Breeding stock.

What are "hair sheep"?
Unlike wool sheep that you have to shear, hair sheep shed their hair each spring/summer. That makes these sheep a very low maintenance animal to have on the farm.
